Diane McInnis was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she attended Dalhousie University and obtained her degrees in Science and later, in Education. After teaching high school science in Ontario, she returned to Dalhousie and obtained her Law Degree in 1990. She articled in downtown Toronto, and was admitted to the Bar in Ontario in 1992. She practiced law in Toronto briefly before leaving Toronto in favour of backpacking around the world with her husband, and then in the fall of 1993, settled in Kitchener-Waterloo. Diane has practiced family law, criminal law and intellectual property law, however, her passion is family law and family mediation and helping people through difficult family transitions.
Diane retired her law practice in 2024 and currently restricts her work to family mediation. As an Accredited Family Mediator, Diane assists clients in mediating disputes and resolving family conflict, and does not represent either client in the dispute. Diane has three adult children and resides with her husband in Kitchener. To manage stress and stay in shape, Diane enjoys, running, playing tennis and between the demands of family and work, enjoys reading, especially Can-Lit. |
